Self-erecting tower cranes are a mainstay of the construction industry around the world and are now taking hold in North America.

These cranes offer significant advantages for hoisting and material handling on all forms of construction projects when compared to conventional tower cranes, mobile cranes and forklifts which are in current use today.

A conventional tower crane is an extremely expensive machine to erect, operate and dismantle. Typically it would cost $15 – 20,000 to erect or dismantle, and it also requires expensive 3-phase power service which can cost $15 - $20,000 throughout a 4 month project.

The concrete base for a conventional tower crane adds another $10 - $15,000 to the already high operating cost. Obviously these costs make the use of conventional tower cranes prohibitively expensive for all but large projects.

Likewise a single self erecting crane can act displace multiple off-road forklifts and mobile cranes at a construction site.

Further benefits are the reduction in on-site labor requirements in all key facets of the construction project from framing to roofing to masonry work.

A typical cost benefit review is outlined below and shows the financial benefit to a general contractor that has chosen to use a self erecting crane at a multi unit residential construction project in place of the more traditional equipment and manning.

All totaled the general contractor saved $41,000.00 in just 4 months.

Providing the same general contractor did 3 similar projects per year his net savings for having chosen a self erecting crane would have amounted to $123,000.00

It is this type of decisive shift in cost management and profitability that can be leveraged by the use of self erecting cranes and likewise one that is so different from the history of the North American construction industry that is being brought to light by our growing dealership base.
